National Youth Orchestra to visit Nicholas Chamberlaine School

On Tuesday July 9th, we are privileged to be providing a superb Widening Horizons event. We will be visited by the 80 strong National Youth Inspire Orchestra, for a morning of workshops, followed by an afternoon performance of Bartok’s “Concerto for Orchestra”.

During the day they will provide live music at break and lunchtime in the Quad, and have promised to “disrupt” lessons with musical flashmobs. It promises to be a truly inspiring day.

In the evening, the Orchestra have invited young musicians from all over Warwickshire, Coventry and Solihull, to a “Come and Play” event. The local community are welcome to attend a free 30 minute mini concert at 19.15, when the musicians will perform the outcome of their after school rehearsals.

Several of our Year 10 and sixth formers will also be working as Young Promoters behind the scenes at NYO events during the coming year to gain experience at Arts Events Management. This is another tremendous leadership opportunity for our students.

The NYO will return in July 2020, for a follow up visit, when they will work with our Year 7 Orchestra.
